Job summary

CNL is seeking a Training Consultant for our Chalk River location. You will lead the development of complex training programs, conduct needs analyses, and create engaging learning resources including CBT and instructor-led sessions.

You will evaluate program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance. The role requires a university degree or college diploma in Training Development or a related field, plus four years of relevant experience, including SAT-based training.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant training experience, with at least 2 years in a direct training role applying SAT or equivalent.
  • Experience leading large, complex projects with diverse stakeholders and tight timelines.
  • Experience evaluating training effectiveness and aligning learning solutions to business objectives.
  • Security clearance eligibility: Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC) with 3–5+ years of verifiable history in Canada/US/UK/Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and guidance to implement compliant training programs.
  • Develop needs analyses to identify customer training requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and improve regulatory training programs using SAT.
  • Develop and implement training policies and standards.
  • Identify and monitor training metrics for program health and compliance.
  • Deliver and evaluate training across multiple programs and teams.
  • Develop course content and facilitate workshops; support remote learning.

Can you see yourself leading the development of complex training programs, conducting training needs analyses, creating impactful learning resources including computer-based training, and evaluating program effectiveness to drive continuous improvement? If you answered yes, then the Training Consultant role at our Chalk River location may be the job for you!

What you will be doing!
  • Providing oversight, guidance, and assistance with the application of organizational standards to enable the implementation of effective, efficient, and compliant training programs.
  • Developing and utilizing a comprehensive needs analysis process to determine the needs of a broad range of customers, providing flexible and creative solutions in technical and non-technical training areas.
  • Independently troubleshooting, identifying, and recommending solutions for compliance and regulatory training programs by evaluating performance issues and making recommendations using the Systematic Approach to Training (SAT).
  • Developing and implementing training policies and standards that align with industry requirements to produce comprehensive and auditable training programs.
  • Identifying training metrics in consultation with client groups that provide insights into training program health.
  • Monitoring training metrics in consultation with client groups to support training compliance.
  • Providing training completion metrics to clients to support the planning and scheduling of future training activities and work.
  • Providing oversight, guidance, and support to clients in the analysis, design, development, delivery, and evaluation of training programs.
  • Designing and developing course content that addresses identified training gaps and supports a positive learning experience.
  • Facilitating multidisciplinary workshops across a broad range of programs to provide guidance and enable training solutions for complex issues.
  • Identifying and evaluating industry best practices and benchmarks.
  • Implementing new technologies (e.g., CBT and web-based training) and supporting training techniques to complement and improve training delivery, while working with customers to ensure appropriate training metrics are implemented to measure the success of initiatives related to behaviours and performance.
  • Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
  • Education
    • A university degree or College diploma in Training Development and/or Education, or a relevant technical field, plus a minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience with at least 2 of those years in a direct training role requiring the application of the principles of a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) or an equivalent process.
    • In the absence of post-secondary education, a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a training and development environment, either in an industrial or corporate setting, during which time the candidate has demonstrated the ability to assume the responsibilities described.
  • Experience
    • Experience leading large, complex projects requiring input and collaboration from a broad range of stakeholders/ customers, often with aggressive timelines, is required.
    • Experience in facilitation techniques, coaching, and training delivery.
    • Demonstrated background supporting training initiatives within engineering, technical, industrial, or information technology environments, including aligning learning solutions to business objectives and evaluating training effectiveness, would be an asset.
    • Project management experience involving planning and implementing large training projects.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Familiarity with highly regulated environments and an understanding of applicable regulatory requirements, such as those governed by the CNSC, TSSA, ESDC, or similar organizations, would be an asset.
    • Strong project management knowledge and skills.
    • Demonstrated influencing and mentoring skills.
    • Strong relationship-building skills that enable effective partnerships with Team members, internal customers, and other professional organizations.
    • Ability to effectively communicate, both written and verbal, with all levels of the company hierarchy.
    • Advanced ability to use computer software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
    • Skilled in Storyline 2/3 and Microsoft Project would be an asset.
    • Knowledge of change management processes to enable effective change management application as it applies to training program management.
    • Advanced knowledge and experience implementing the full SAT (or equivalent) process, while demonstrating competence in providing innovative training solutions to a broad range of customers to solve business issues and enable performance.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate remote learning using technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Skype would be an asset.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
  • Working schedule: Five (5) days per week, seven and a half (7.5) hours per day for a thirty-seven and a half (37.5) hour work week.
  • Long periods of sitting, typing, and reading, which require heightened focus and cause visual strain.
  • Long periods on phone and/or computer.
  • Fast-paced, often competing priorities, multiple work assignments for a broad range of clients simultaneously.
