Job summary

A luxury fashion house is seeking a Merchandising Trainee to join their team in Canada. This full-time, 12-month program involves supporting the business strategies for boutiques through reporting, product management, and market analysis. Ideal candidates will have at least 6 months of experience in merchandising or buying, demonstrating excellent organizational skills and a results-driven mentality. Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint is essential. The salary offered is $20 per hour.

Job description
Overview

The Dior Corporate Trainee participates in a program designed to identify and develop future talent for the organization. By working closely with their assigned Department, the Trainee supports the organization's short and long-term objectives through day to day administrative and long-term project work. Trainees across departments will collaborate to develop initiatives to improve business results, and present a project to the Executive Leadership Team. The Merchandising Trainee is responsible for supporting the department in managing the business strategy for the Canada Boutiques. Main responsibilities include reporting and recaps, product tool creation, competitive market analysis, supporting the buying process, and distribution in accordance with total company vision.

Responsibilities
  • Review and support running weekly sales reports: Generate a variety of Excel based reports; store and business recaps, ensure tracking to sales targets
  • Manage and follow up daily on product shipping and deliveries
  • Communicate and partner closely with Retail teams to manage day to day product inquiries and present business updates on Retail calls
  • Participate and share new ideas to drive business strategy
  • Assist with weekly stock rebalances to improve sales and sell-thru
  • Monitor and Track Trunk Show Samples
  • Analyze the market and prepare comprehensive recaps on competitive pricing, trends, market activities, and events monthly
  • Support the creation of seasonal launch tools: buy book creation, manage photo and selling tools, ensure client orders are filled accurately, strategically adjust allocations to match reservation needs
  • Assist team during 4 seasonal Buying Markets:
    • Support compilation of premarket analysis: by store and Find opportunities within each region & present strategy to Managers.
    • Remain positive, energetic, and organized while meeting tight deadlines during high-paced and demanding buying sessions
  • Review sales results on Advertising campaigns, catalogue and product highlights
Reporting Functions
  • Prepare and provide analysis on fast/slow sellers and sell-thru report
  • Prepare and compile seasonal qualitative collection feedback
  • Hindsight end of season (EOS) product analysis and recaps
  • Support Merchandising team on weekly reporting across categories and ad-hoc analysis as needed

  • Technical ability to manage merchandising software
  • Full-time, 12 Month Program
  • Must be available M-F, 9-6pm, Friday work from home
  • At least 6 months of prior Merchandising/Buying work or internship experience, luxury retail Women\'s experience preferred; strong working knowledge of Retail Math and Retail critical metrics
  • Strong knowledge of Excel & PowerPoint, proficiency in all Microsoft Office programs

The appointed candidate will be offered a salary of $20 per hour.
