Job summary

Ambition in Montreal is seeking a Trading Systems Integration Engineer to own exchange connectivity and onboarding of new venues. You will work across software engineering, trading and external exchanges to ensure seamless integrations.

The role requires hands-on experience with FIX protocol, Linux and end-to-end delivery of connectivity projects, including migrations and production deployments. Collaboration with vendors and stakeholders is essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• 1–2 years experience in systems integration, ideally in electronic trading or financial markets.
• Hands-on experience with exchange connectivity.
• Strong knowledge of the FIX protocol.
• Strong working knowledge of Linux and the trade lifecycle.
• Experience with software integration, lifecycle change or release management.
• Strong communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experienced with Jira and Confluence.
• Experience in hedge funds, proprietary trading, banks, exchanges, or electronic trading.

Responsibilities

We are partnering with a leading global financial markets firm looking to hire a Trading Systems Integration Engineer into its Montreal technology team.

This role sits within a team responsible for the firm's order gateway infrastructure, connecting internal trading strategies to global exchanges and trading venues.

You will take ownership of onboarding new venues, introducing new exchange functionality and managing complex migrations across the trading environment. This is a highly collaborative position working across software engineering, trading, external exchanges and technology vendors.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end delivery of new exchange and trading venue connectivity
• Manage integration projects across order entry and drop copy flows
• Work closely with developers and business stakeholders to define technical and functional requirements
• Coordinate new venue onboarding from initial requirements through implementation and production deployment
• Manage application and infrastructure migrations, including hardware and platform changes
• Produce and review technical documentation, exchange specifications and migration plans
• Identify and resolve external dependencies and blockers affecting development teams
• Work directly with exchanges, brokers, technology vendors and other external providers
• Provide clear project and delivery updates to technical and business stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to improve integration and delivery processes

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline
• At least 1-2 years' experience in systems integration, ideally within electronic trading or financial markets
• Hands-on experience with exchange connectivity
• Strong knowledge of the FIX protocol
• Strong working knowledge of Linux
• Good understanding of the trade lifecycle
• Experience with software integration, application lifecycle management, change management or release management
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work across both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
• Experience using Jira and Confluence
• Experience within a hedge fund, proprietary trading firm, investment bank, exchange or electronic trading environment
