Job summary

Serco Canada Inc. is seeking a hands-on trades support role at 5 Wing Goose Bay, Labrador, delivering maintenance and small electrical tasks under a no-fail mission for DND/NORAD. You will assist tradespeople, perform basic carpentry and mechanical duties, and work in remote areas as required.

Two years of carpentry or mechanical experience are needed, along with a valid NL Class 5 license. A Ramp Driving Course and security clearance may be required; training assets include confined space, fall

Qualifications

• Minimum two years’ experience in carpentry and/or mechanical background.
• Completion of a carpentry or a mechanical course would be an asset.
• Possession of a valid NL Class 5 driver’s license is required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield may be required.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Secret Level II security clearance.
• Current confined space, fall protection, aerial lift, and powerline hazards training/certificates would be an asset.
• Ability to obtain a drug and alcohol test.
• Ability to obtain a driver abstract.

• Check buildings for freeze ups, leaks and other issues as required.
• Assist with painting when needed including line painting.

• Complete time keeping tasks according to policies.
• May be required to work in remote areas.
• Ensure all assigned deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on a time.
• Visibly demonstrate Serco Values and work practices while completing duties.

As the Royal Canadian Air Forces’ prime service provider at 5 Wing Goose Bay, Labrador, our team delivers comprehensive air operations, emergency services, logistics and engineering expertise to the Department of National Defence. We work on behalf of DND’s “no fail” mission at Goose Bay: supporting NORAD operations for the projection of air power on the north and northeast coasts of Canada, while supporting military training for the Canadian Armed Forces, Allies and NORAD. 5 Wing Goose Bay provides effective training facilities, adaptable infrastructures, and a unique, austere, and challenging training location.
