Job summary

Emil Anderson Group seeks a Trade Journeyperson Welder to join the Robson Valley team, performing high-quality welding and fabrication on the heavy fleet and attachments. You will support safe return-to-service of equipment and minimize downtime, with mentoring responsibilities for apprentices.

The role requires a valid BC class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement, apprenticeship completion or equivalent training, and safety-conscious work habits.

Qualifications

• Valid BC class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement and a clean abstract.
• Completion of a registered apprenticeship in the trade, or equivalent training and work experience.
• Red Seal certification is an asset.
• Ability to work independently or with others; good communication and teamwork.
• Physically fit and able to perform labour-intensive tasks.

About Emil Anderson Maintenance

Emil Anderson Maintenance (EAM) is the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MoTT) highway and bridge maintenance contractor for three service areas in British Columbia: Service Area 7 (Fraser Valley), Service Area 20 (Robson), and Service Area 26 (Skeena).

For decades, EAM has delivered reliable road and bridge maintenance across urban and rural corridors. Our teams perform the full scope of highway maintenance activities, including vegetation control, drainage, sign and pavement repairs, concrete and wood bridge repair, gravel surface grading, anti‑icing, snow plowing, and incident and emergency response. Based out of regional offices and yards, our skilled year‑round workforce scales up during winter operations to meet seasonal demands and maintain prescribed response times on numbered routes.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking a Trade Journeyperson Welder to join our team in in the Robson Valley.

As a Trade Journeyperson Welder with Emil Anderson Maintenance (EAM), you will work closely with maintenance and operations teams to perform high‑quality welding and fabrication on our heavy fleet and attachments, and to support the safe, efficient return‑to‑service of equipment to minimize downtime.

Although we are a union‑affiliated organization, being an active member is not a prerequisite.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Perform Welding on fleet equipment.
• Inspect and maintain welding tools and equipment for safety and functionality.
• Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to complete repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Read and interpret related technical information.
• Support and mentor apprentices in learning and developing trade skills.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Any other duties as required.

Your Qualifications & Skills

• Valid Canadian (BC) class 3 driver’s license with air endorsement as well as a clean abstract.
• Preferably completion of a registered apprenticeship in the respective trade, or equivalent training and work experience to the full apprenticeship term.
• Completion of apprenticeship and/or Red Seal certification considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with others; strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Demonstrated ability to assist apprentices in learning and developing skills.
• Physically fit; able to perform labour‑intensive tasks and lift as required.
• Mentally alert and safety‑conscious, with a commitment to safe work practices.
