Job summary

Irving Oil Ltd. is seeking a Tractor Trailer Delivery Driver to safely deliver petroleum products to commercial customers and retail sites in Nova Scotia.

The role involves coordinating with dispatch, planning daily routes, and performing comprehensive pre- and post-trip inspections to meet strict safety standards.

Qualifications

• Good verbal and written communication with load builders, dispatchers and customers.
• Basic mathematical skills are necessary.
• Good judgment and some technical skills are required.
• Strong safety focus to ensure on-time delivery and safe operations.

Responsibilities

• Drive a Tractor Trailer delivery truck following DOT regulations.
• Deliver Irving Oil products to various locations within the defined geography.
• Collaborate with Dispatch to improve route efficiency and clustering.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure truck safety.
• Maintain familiarity with trucks/trailers and inspect components.
• Load/unload product safely and adhere to safety policies.
• Report hazards to management and complete daily shift paperwork.
• Keep the vehicle clean and organized inside and out.

Job description

As a Tractor Trailer Delivery Driver, you will safely and efficiently deliver petroleum products to commercial customers, retail sites, and bulk plants while adhering to all DOT regulations and procedures. As a safety-focused professional, you will have the opportunity to collaborate and plan daily routes, ensure efficient loading of the fuel truck, and conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections to guarantee top-notch performance and safety. Your goal will be to provide a meaningful and essential service to our Irving Energy customers in a safety focused environment. Your success will depend on your ability to adhere to daily routes, load the fuel truck, and complete pre-and post-trip inspections while maintaining to all Department of Transportation regulations and procedures. Your Responsibilities:

• Driving a Tractor Trailer delivery truck while adhering to all DOT regulations and procedures
• Deliver Irving Oil Products to various locations within the required geographical locations
• Collaborate with Dispatch team to improve efficiency of routes by providing recommendations to the delivery schedule, customers that should be clustered together, or identify delivery locations that present challenges to delivery
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure truck is performing to required standards.
• Maintain familiarity with different trucks/trailers in order to accurately inspect trucks, trailers, tires, pins, lights, etc.
• Safely load and unload product from storage facilities while adhering to all safety policies and procedures
• Report all hazards or unsafe situations that cannot be corrected on their own to manager.
• Complete daily shift report and all required paperwork with accurate information
• Maintain a clean and organized vehicle – inside & outside

Your Skills:

• Good verbal and written communication in working with load builders, dispatchers, and sometimes dealing with customers
• Basic mathematical skills are necessary
• Good judgment skills and some technical skills
• Able to ensure that product gets delivered on time, while considering all safety issues and problems that can arise during pre-trip checks and delivery of product
• Strong safety focus required

Your Experience:

• Valid commercial truck driver's license with a clean Driver's Abstract Class 1 designation with air brakes, WHMIS & Dangerous Goods Certification
• High school diploma or G.E.D. required
• Minimum 2 years Commercial Transportation (Class 1/A) experience.
• Previous experience with liquid loads is considered an asset
• The expected hourly rate for this position is $31.00 - $36.95. Placement within the range will be based on relevant experience, qualifications and skills.
