Job summary

Northrok Construction Ltd. is seeking a Trackman/Woman to work on tracks across Western Canada with frequent travel and overnight stays. You will contribute to the installation and maintenance of railroad tracks and support ballast operations.

The role requires physical ability to lift heavy loads, safety-mindedness, and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Prior railroad or heavy construction experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy loads and work outdoors in all weather.
  • Willing to travel to various sites across Western Canada with overnight stays.
  • Prior railroad or heavy construction experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Carrying and placing track materials on site.
  • Installing and removing railroad ties and rails.
  • Using hand tools such as spike mauls, lining bars, shovels, jacks, and rail tongs.
  • Working with ballast and track maintenance tasks.
  • Assisting around heavy equipment operations.
  • Participating in safety meetings and following PPE requirements.

Trackman/Woman - Northrok Construction Ltd.

Company: Northrok Construction Ltd. (based in Virden, Manitoba)

Position: Trackman/woman / Trackman-Labourer

Work Location: Various sites throughout Western Canada, with travel required and accommodations provided.

Key Duties included:

  • Carrying and placing track materials.
  • Installing and removing railroad ties and rails.
  • Using hand tools such as spike mauls, lining bars, shovels, jacks, and rail tongs.
  • Working with ballast and track maintenance.
  • Assisting around heavy equipment operations.
  • Participating in safety meetings and following PPE requirements.

Requirements included:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs.
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight at remote job sites.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Driver's licence preferred.
  • Previous railroad or heavy construction experience preferred.
