Overview

Parsons is a leader in the design and construction of rail and transit systems, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions that enhance transportation infrastructure. Our team uses advanced 3D modeling to provide design, construction, and technology integration for clients across North America. Parsons is seeking an experienced Senior Track Engineer to join our Rail and Transit division as a Track Engineering Design Lead. This role is based in the Greater Toronto Area Region.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead the design and alignment of track infrastructure for various transit systems using AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation Open Rail Designer.
  • Lead internal Designers and Engineers with a primary focus on managing the track design and resolving technical challenges to achieve a design solution that meets all requirements, specifications, standards, and Parsons QAQC processes.
  • Prepare calculations, engineering design plans, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates, and present to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure effective design coordination across disciplines. Participate in design coordination meetings and address critical issues related to track design within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Mentor and develop junior-intermediate track staff. Provide functional guidance to enhance technical and non-technical skills.
  • Review and approve shop drawings and technical documentation. Implement railway systems and procedures to ensure cost-effective, high-quality, and safe project delivery.
  • Contribute to proposal preparation, develop and verify technical scopes, and assist with budget and schedule planning and management.
  • Be a leader within the Project Team to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality rail transportation projects on time, meeting client expectations and objectives.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering typically preferred).
  • Designation as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
  • 8+ years experience with track design engineering for large-scale rail transit systems including Class I Railways, LRT, or Commuter Rail.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design of rail alignments, specialty trackwork, junctions, yards, and facilities.
  • Experience in design-build contract delivery is an asset.
  • Detailed understanding of local authorities' codes and design standards.
  • Strong capabilities in AutoCAD Civil3D Subassembly Composer, Dynamo and Navisworks for BIM interface.
  • Strong capabilities in OpenRail Designer - MicroStation.
  • Demonstrated experience on large-scale interdisciplinary projects with track design leadership responsibilities and interface with civil, utilities, and systems engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English.
  • Organizational and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to work independently with high attention to detail and accuracy in work.
