Are you a customer driven professional with a passion for bringing visitors to the community? The City of Owen Sound is hiring a Tourism and Events Assistant to support the Events Specialist in developing Events for the City as well as social media posts.

  • Visitor Services – Tom Thompson Art Gallery
  • Event Support
  • Administrative and Operational Support.
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience:
  • Post‑secondary education in Tourism, Hospitality, Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration or a related field
  • 2 to 3 years experience in a tourism, event coordination, or related public facing role preferably in a municipal or cultural setting
  • Strong knowledge of Owen Sound and Grey‑Bruce attractions, events, and tourism assets
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills to engage visitors of all ages and background in a welcoming and professional manner
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, databases and POS systems
  • Graphic Design and basic marketing and social media skills
Other Requirements:
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for events and visitor service operations
  • Criminal record check.
  • Internal candidates must have a satisfactory attendance and performance record.
  • Wage: $21.88-$25.75/hour
  • Hours: 35 hours/week
