Job summary

TVO Media Education Group, based in Toronto, seeks a Director of Total Rewards and HRIS to lead compensation, benefits, pension, payroll and HRIS, ensuring compliance and operational excellence. You will oversee data integrity, analytics and policy implementation while guiding a high-performing team.

The role blends strategy and hands-on leadership, with 7–10 years in total rewards and at least 5 years in leadership, plus a university degree.

Qualifications

• 7-10 years of experience in total rewards, compensation, benefits, HRIS, including design, maintenance, administration, and compliance of programs, with 5 years in a leadership role.
• University or College Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience.
• Designations such as CHRP, CEBS, or CPA are preferred and an asset.
• Deep knowledge of compensation and benefits best practices, trends, and regulations; and a strong HR generalist foundation.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
• Advanced MS Excel (i.e. pivot tables, VLOOKUP, advanced formulas) and modelling with large and complex HR/Financial data sets.
• Experience analyzing data and trends to develop solutions, programs, and policies.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-starter with proven ability to pivot between strategic and hands-on work.
• Motivated to pursue new and alternative strategies along with a focus on continuous improvement.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Experience working in a multi-unionized environment and/or public sector an asset.
• Handles confidential information with sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.
• Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Total Rewards: Lead compensation policy, annual salary review, budgeting, communication, and pay equity.
• HRIS, Data Management, Reporting & Analytics: Oversee HR system administration, data integrity, audits, and dashboards.
• Leadership & Team Management: Manage a team handling benefits, pension, payroll, HRIS, and HR administration; coaching and development.
• Vendor Management: Manage external vendors and contracts; ensure service quality.
