Job summary

Dedale Intelligence is expanding its Toronto team and seeking an investment research analyst with a strong background in engineering or business. You will conduct deep fundamental research on software and technology companies, perform strategic due diligence, and contribute to multi-million dollar investment decisions.

You will collaborate with a high-caliber team, leveraging Excel-based modelling and expert interviews to deliver actionable insights.

Qualifications

• Tier 1 engineering or business school graduate.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in strategy, finance, and business.
• Excellent analysis skills and strong Excel abilities.
• Strong strategic thinking and ability to identify key inputs and correlations.
• Fluent English required; French/German/Italian a plus.

Responsibilities

• Conduct deep fundamental research on software & technology companies.
• Perform strategic due diligence and financial analysis on public and private software/tech firms.
• Leverage quantitative modelling and qualitative insights from expert interviews.
• Collaborate with a team of peers and experienced ex-Tier 1 consultants.
• Deliver high-quality deliverables to support multi-million investment decisions.
• Communicate research findings internally and externally.
• Grow within the team to take on more responsibilities.
• Daily monitoring of identified companies.
• Prepare financial research, strategic screening, and materials for members.
• Lead interviews in English with professional experts.
• Support process improvement and new company screening.

Your Role:

1. Conduct deep fundamental research on software & technology companies

2. Perform strategic due diligence and financial analysis on publicly listed and privately owned software & technology companies

3. Leverage both quantitative modelling and qualitative insights generation through expert interviews

4. Collaborate with a strong team of peers and experienced ex-Tier 1 management consultants contributing to the research

5. Deliver high quality and valuable deliverables that will support decision making on multi-million investments

6. Communicate your research findings internally and externally

7. Naturally grow in the team to take on more and more responsibilities and develop yourself as a strong professional

8. Daily monitoring of the already identified companies

9. Preparation of financial research and analysis, strategic screening and communication materials for our members

10. Leading interviews in English with professional experts

11. Support on process improvement and new companies screening

Your Profile:

Across the firm, we attract motivated, intellectually curious, and analytically rigorous young professionals who are passionate about learning and creating impact. The ideal candidate will possess the following traits:

• You are Tier 1 engineering/business school young graduate, specializing in Business/Finance/Corporate business/Corporate finance/Engineering/Strategy

• You have 1-2 years of relevant experience in strategy, finance, and business (with several internships in finance/tech/startup or corporate company)

• You have excellent analysis skills and excellent Excel skill

• You have a strong strategic thinking mind - you know how to look for key inputs and do smart correlations

• Strong oral and written communication skills in English is a must, and French, German, or Italian language ability is a plus.
