Job summary

Kichton Contracting Ltd in the Edmonton area seeks a Topman/woman to manage grade control, on-site materials, and safety on civil earthworks projects. Reporting into our Acheson office, you will work with field crews and ensure accuracy and safety on site.

You will perform manual tasks, liaise with foreman, and support traffic and material handling with long shifts, potential out-of-town work, and OT as required. Must have CSTS2020 and Class 5 license.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as topman/woman
• Must be 18 years of age
• Strong teamwork skills and positive attitude
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Must be physically fit and able to lift 50lbs unassisted
• Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation
• Valid CSTS2020 certification (free online course through ACSA)
• Valid ground disturbance certification
• Confined space/fall protection is an asset

Responsibilities

• Maintain gradebook, as-built drawings, and inventory of materials on site
• Set up, protect, and manage transit
• Understand geodetic elevations, prints, and locates
• Record shots, mentor laborers, and communicate with Pipelayer/Mainliner
• Rig and prep pipes/structures safely
• Prep materials for install and stay ahead of crew
• Build and install manholes, ladder rungs, and F&C per specs
• Report issues to Foreman and maintain communication on site
• Manwatch for excavation as well as confined space activities
• Work in a safe manner, identifying and reporting any hazards
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Out-of-town work may be available

Kichton Contracting is seeking a motivated and adaptable individual to join our team. Kichton Contracting Ltd (KCL) has been in business since 1963 and is based out of Acheson, Alberta, Canada. KCL is classified as a medium-sized civil earthworks contractor. Our work ranges from residential earthworks, commercial site development, to industrial projects. Our services include grading design for all types of new commercial and industrial sites along with retrofitting existing sites to accommodate new site development.

Work Schedule

• Monday to Saturday
• 10-12-hour shifts per day
• Overtime if required
