Job summary

Vuteq Canada Inc. in Woodstock, Ontario is seeking a Product Engineer to define tooling and lead mold design reviews, guiding projects from design to buy-off. You will coordinate with customers and internal teams to ensure manufacturability and on-time tool delivery.

Ideal candidates have 3-5 years in injection mold design, automotive tooling exposure, and a relevant post-secondary background. This full-time role features hands-on training, competitive pay, and growth within a long-standing

• Automotive experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Analyze technical data and assess manufacturability from drawings and designs.
• Provide customer feedback and suggest design changes to improve part feasibility.
• Create mold specifications and support tool shop selection and build discussions.
• Attend weekly customer meetings and ensure tooling meets standards.
• Manage tool shops to keep progress on schedule and budget.

Job Description

The Tooling Engineer is responsible for defining tooling requirements based on customer feedback and company tooling standards. They will also be responsible for project mold design reviews with internal and external customers and managing the overall build schedule following it through from design to buy off of the tool.

Salary Range : $70,000 - $100,000/yr

Position Description

• Involved in the analysis of technical data (drawings, data, and sketch, etc.) Provides insight into manufacturability of products based on drawing or design
• Offers feedback to customers and offers suggestions on possible design changes in order to improve part feasibility
• Create mold specifications; Support tool shop selection and further discuss specifications of the mold build
• Attend weekly meetings with the customer
• Design review: ensure tooling is designed to internal and external customer standards
• Manage tool shops to ensure tools stay on track to progress and schedule
• Attend tool trials to ensure design meets manufacturability and is built to standards
• Track progress of all tools to ensure issues are closed out before buy off to the manufacturing plant
• Works with manufacturing plant tooling team to troubleshoot issues
• Manage & negotiate tooling costs meeting customer budgets in a timely manner
• Provide technical support to departments within the tech center and Vuteq plants
• Act as communication lead to internal and external stakeholders regarding tooling status/concerns
• Capture lessons learned from previous projects and correct/mitigate for future projects
• Support and maintain environmental initiatives that reduce waste, energy consumption, and operational impact

Ensure team member compliance with all environmental regulations, policies and industry standards.

Qualifications

Education

• Successful completion of a minimum 2-4 year post-secondary program; design, mechanical, and manufacturing engineering are considered an asset
• Successful completion of a mold design/mold maker apprenticeship considered an asset

Experience

• 3-5 years of experience in injection mold design/mold tooling
• Automotive experience is considered to be an asset

• Ability to adapt to changing demands from customers as well as fellow team members
