Job summary

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul is opening a new Sidney thrift store and seeks a friendly Thrift Store Worker to assist customers, process donations, and keep merchandise moving to the sales floor. You will work with staff and volunteers to create a welcoming, organized shop and support our community programs.

Full and part-time positions are available with a competitive salary, employer health and dental coverage, pension plan, paid time off, 3 weeks vacation and 14 statutory holidays.

Qualifications

• Retail or customer service experience preferred.
• Vulnerable Sector Clearance Letter required prior to hiring.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers with purchases, questions, and concerns
• Operate the POS system to complete sales, issue receipts, and balance cash at day’s end
• Accept, sort, and price donations; politely decline unsuitable items
• Maintain clean and organized donation and sales areas
• Display merchandise neatly and restock as needed
• Monitor store safety and security in line with Society policies
• Assist with opening and closing duties, including cash handling and reporting
• Support volunteers and help with training or supervision as needed
• Answer phones professionally and assist with inquiries
• Load/unload Society truck or van when required
