Job summary

Canadian Natural Resources Limited seeks a Thermal Kirby Exploitation Engineer to optimize reservoir performance and drive profitable thermal production. You will work with geoscientists, production and facility engineers to apply subsurface methods and deliver technical/economic evaluations influencing investments and operations.

You will develop forecasts, participate in development plans, and lead cross-disciplinary reviews while ensuring regulatory and environmental compliance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience.
• Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Thermal and petroleum industry experience is a plus.
• Experience with data analytics and visualization software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and optimize reservoir performance and recovery processes.
• Develop production forecasts for Thermal wells using technical methods.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to maximize project NPV.
• Provide regular project updates and technical evaluation reports to senior management.
• Lead multi-discipline project meetings for continuous improvement.

As a Thermal Kirby Exploitation Engineer, you will have the opportunity to make your mark at Canadian Natural, as you grow your career. Our SAGD Exploitation roles create exciting opportunities for professional development and growth.You will be a key player in a dynamic and collaborative team of professionals focused on optimizing our thermal production, in a sustainable way. Working with a multi-disciplinary team of geoscientists, production engineers, facility engineers and other company professionals, you will advance your use of subsurface engineering methods in an environment that encourages the development and execution of innovative ideas. You will deliver technical and economic evaluations that influence the company’s investment and operational decisions.

Key Accountabilities:

• Monitor and optimize reservoir performance and recovery processes for Canadian Natural assets
• Develop production forecasts for Thermal wells using various technical and analytical methods (these forecasts are critical inputs to budget, 10 year planning and corporate reserves)
• Work in a team environment on development plans to maximize the net present value (NPV) of the project
• Provide effective regular project updates and technical evaluation reports for senior management
• Leadmulti-discipline project meetings and reviews focused on continuous improvement of our thermal business
• Ensure the incorporation of relevant regulatory and environmental requirements for ongoing operations and new development plans

What You Bring to the Role:

• 5 + years of engineering experience with a minimum of a B.Sc in Engineering and registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA
• Demonstrated problem solving, communication, organization and leadership skills
• Thermal and petroleum industry experience would be an asset.
• Experience with data analytics and visualization methods / software would be an asset
