Job summary

The Good Samaritan Society - Stony Plain Care Centre in Stony Plain, AB invites applications for a Therapist Assistant casual position. Under the supervision of the Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist, you will treat, instruct or work with clients carrying out therapeutic activities prescribed and will be responsible for maintaining the department and rehabilitation equipment.

Requirements include Therapist Assistant Diploma (2-year program), experience in a rehabilitation setting

Qualifications

• Diploma required: Therapist Assistant Diploma (2-year program).
• Experience in a rehabilitation setting is desirable.
• Experience with geriatric and/or disabled population is essential.
• Strong English communication and interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
• Physically capable of lifts, transfers and other duties.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of Physical or Occupational Therapist, assist with therapeutic activities prescribed.
• Maintain department and rehabilitation equipment.

Duties:

Under the direction of the Physical Therapist and/or Occupational Therapist, you will treat, instruct or work with clients carrying out therapeutic activities prescribed by the Therapist. You will also be responsible for maintaining the department and rehabilitation equipment.

Qualifications:

Therapist Assistant Diploma (2 year program). Experience in a rehabilitation setting is desirable. Experience working with a geriatric and/or disabled population is essential. You are a strong communicator able to communicate effectively in verbal and written English. You also have excellent interpersonal skills in addition to effective leadership, observation and reporting skills. You must be physically capable of performing lifts, transfers and other physical activities as required by job duties.
