Job summary

Alberta Health Services seeks a Therapy Assistant to support pediatric rehabilitation within a multidisciplinary team. You will provide supervised client care, assist in materials preparation, and help execute treatment plans under supervising therapists.

Position based at Olds Community Health Centre with responsibilities extending to Three Hills and Olds offices. Diploma required; BCLS-HCP current; pediatric experience preferred. 1.00 FTE, dayshift, with a temporary term in place.

Qualifications

• Completion of a diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) is required.
• Pediatric experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide supervised supports and interventions for pediatric clients and their families.
• Assist in preparing materials for clinical and non-clinical activities and planning/t follow treatment plans.
• Support the Children's Rehabilitation Services program in ordering materials and supplies, equipment maintenance and small repairs.
• Support for planning and organizing department events.
• Work within a multidisciplinary team to contribute to rehabilitation services.

Your Opportunity: If you’re a Therapy Assistant who loves rehabilitation therapy (Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy) and working with children, then this position might be just what you’re looking for! You will assist in preparing materials for clinical and non-clinical activities, and for planning and following treatment plans as specified by the supervising Therapists. In addition, you will responsible for providing supports to the Children's Rehabilitation Services program overall in the areas of ordering materials and supplies, equipment maintenance and small repair, and support for planning and organizing department events. Currently this position is based at the Olds Community Health Centre and supports our team in both the Three Hills and Olds offices.

Description: As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision.
