Job summary

A disability care organization in Alberta is seeking a compassionate Therapy Aide to conduct therapy programs for adults with intellectual disabilities. Therapy Aide (Disability Care/ Woodland)

Metta Home for the Disabled and its Day Activity Centre, established in December 2000, provide vital residential and day‑care services for adults with intellectual disabilities aged 18 to 55. Funded by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), Metta Home serves 103 residents while the Day Activity Centre supports up to 50 clients. As part of Metta Welfare Association, we are committed to empowering individuals with special needs to lead more independent and dignified lives through holistic care, rehabilitation, and active engagement with the community.

Key Responsibilities

Therapy Support

  • Conduct therapy programmes for clients under the guidance and supervision of physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and well‑maintained environment and equipment for therapy sessions.
  • Record and monitor clients’ participation, progress, and condition throughout therapy.
  • Assist therapists in providing guidance and education to clients and caregivers to help prevent or improve physical and functional conditions.

Other Duties

  • Participate in centre and organisation‑wide initiatives such as donor, volunteer, and fundraising events.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the Therapy Team Lead or Centre Supervisor.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum certificate in Therapy Services or equivalent.
  • At least 1–2 years of relevant experience in therapy, disability care, or a similar healthcare setting (preferred).
  • Enjoys working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and has a passion for making a difference.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English and at least one local language or dialect to better connect with clients and caregivers.
  • Compassionate, dependable, and team‑oriented with a proactive attitude.
  • Willing to work on weekends and public holidays as required.
