Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Therapy Aide to support recreation therapy services at the Provost Health Centre. You will work alongside an interdisciplinary team and may perform administrative tasks, prep treatment areas, and assist with routine interventions under supervision.

The position is casual/relief with variable shifts (days) at Provost Health Centre, requiring a Grade 12 and the ability to participate in therapeutic activities including ADL/IADL within the program.

  • Prepare and apply routine interventions under supervision of a recreation therapist or other therapists.
  • Assist with client lifts/transfers, positioning, ADL/IADL within therapy program.
  • Handle administrative duties such as booking clients, attendance tracking, and supply inventory.

This Therapy Aide position works within the allied health team to provide recreation therapy services to residents at the Provost Health Centre.

Description:

As a Therapy Aide, you will be working both independently and as part of the interdisciplinary team where you will contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of rehabilitation services. Your role may include administrative duties such as ordering supplies, booking clients, tracking attendances, equipment inventory and preparing/cleaning the treatment area. Under the direction of a supervising recreation therapist, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, audiologist, or speech language pathologist, you will prepare and/or apply routine interventions, promote patient (client, resident) healthy living, self-care independence and motivate clients to actively participate in assigned therapy protocols or programs. You may assist with client lifts and transfers, positioning, and basic activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) within the context of the therapy program.
