Job Title: Test Technician

Job Description

The High Voltage Test Technician plays a crucial role in overseeing the performance of high voltage products and test equipment. This role involves ensuring the safety, training, and deployment of the department’s workforce, as well as managing tasks required to fully operate the test programs and stations according to required test standards.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare test reports that include a summary of the test procedures, data, and results.
  • Communicate results effectively to engineers and other departments.
  • Create and develop test procedures and protocols for high voltage tests, with a strong understanding of ISO standards.
  • Arrange and record equipment calibration.
  • Guide visiting inspectors in the lab to witness testing.
  • Evaluate test results and assess equipment performance.
  • Perform in-depth analysis of electrical problems, resolve them and update test equipment plan.
  • Guide lab team actions and strategies in line with management philosophy.
  • Support the team in achieving daily production quotas and maintain shop supplies and tool inventories.
  • Ensure resources are available to meet workload and delivery on quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Focus the team on efficiency in procedures, lean/5S, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Manage communication with cross‑functional teams regarding requirements, escalation, status reporting, personnel, resources, financials, and schedule.
Essential Skills
  • Community College diploma in Electrical/Electronic or associate’s electrical certification.
  • Knowledge of high voltage products and production processes is preferable.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience with hands‑on experience in LV or HV circuits preferred.
  • Experience using test instruments such as Impedance Analyzer, Voltage Breakdown Tester, Power Wattmeter, and Micro Ohmmeter is preferable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows operating system.
  • Familiarity with LabView and other industry‑wide lab software is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis techniques and ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Demonstrated commitment to leadership development.
  • Critical thinking and knowledge in electromagnetic theory and circuit analysis.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent proficiency in English, with the ability to follow verbal/written instructions and complete technical paperwork.
  • Willingness to work on a shift rotation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Knowledge of sustainable energy transmission and optical current measurement technology.
  • Experience in handling the latest measurement technology.

Work Environment

The position involves working in a shift rotation over a two‑week cycle, with the first shift from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM and the second shift from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, which includes a shift premium. Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Scarborough, ON.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $68,078.40 – $68,078.40/yr.
