Expected Salary: $70,340 to $85,971

To determine final salary, Babcock considers a variety of factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience and internal equity. The final base salary offer is at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.

In this role, you will
  • Carry out testing, acceptance and maintenance activities for various Victoria Class Submarine (VCS) systems and equipment.
  • Act as a Test Director and direct multi-disciplinary employees during the testing of submarine systems and equipment.
  • Conduct equipment troubleshooting, fault diagnosis and corrective maintenance.
  • Record defects using Babcock Canada IT applications.
  • Draft test documentation and work instructions.
  • Identify risks and opportunities during testing and maintenance.
  • Contribute to the determination of solutions to problems and issues of moderate to high complexity and clearly articulate complex technical issues, solutions and risks to all stakeholders (technical and non-technical).
  • Be responsive to Commissioning Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment.
  • Other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Strong technical skills including post-secondary education; degree, diploma, and/or certificate in Electrical Engineering Technology or similar, or equivalent experience.
  • Eligible for recognition as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT), Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with the applicable provincial association.
  • 4+ years of relevant technical experience.
  • Experience troubleshooting main battery, electrical, propulsion and related control and indication systems (specific experience with VCS domain engineering systems) is an asset.
  • Experience with electrical testing and acceptance of VCS systems is an asset.
  • Marine, offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel experience is an asset.
  • New construction commissioning or retro-commissioning is an asset.
  • VCS operational experience is an asset.
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal and interpersonal.
  • Physical ability to walk and/or stand for extended periods; dexterity to work in confined spaces and areas with limited movement; comfortable working on scaffolding at heights and around water.
  • Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance.
