Job details

At Rival, we’re redefining what technology means in insurance. As a modern InsurTech company, we believe in building elegant, intelligent systems that empower clients, unlock data, and scale with purpose. We are a remote‑first team that values trust, transparency, and flexibility. We prioritize learning, feedback, and experimentation. You will work with a modern tech stack, including Azure, and our evolving AI strategy.

We are committed to fostering an accessible, inclusive, and equitable workplace. If you require accommodation during the recruitment process, let us know and we’ll work with you.

The Opportunity

As a QA Specialist, you’ll ensure every Rival product release delivers reliability, performance, and an exceptional user experience. You’ll design and execute test strategies, automate quality processes, and partner closely with engineers, analysts, and product managers to make sure every feature meets our standards for excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Testing Strategy & Execution – Develop and execute comprehensive test plans across functional, regression, performance, and usability areas. Define clear test objectives aligned with release goals and product requirements. Use risk‑based, right‑sized testing to cover likely edge cases without slowing delivery.
  • Automation & Continuous Quality – Build, maintain, and optimize automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, Postman). Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for fast, consistent validation. Own and maintain a lightweight smoke suite and lean regression pack that provide a clear go/no‑go signal before each build or release.
  • Defect Analysis & Reporting – Identify, document, and analyze software defects, including root cause analysis and resolution tracking. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to prioritize and close quality gaps. Aim for reliable, high‑quality releases balancing thoroughness with delivery and focusing on issues that impact users most.
  • Process Improvement & Collaboration – Continuously assess QA practices, tools, and coverage to improve efficiency and scalability. Contribute to release readiness reviews and sprint planning to ensure quality is embedded early.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing – Maintain clear, traceable test documentation, dashboards, and reports for visibility. Share learnings and best practices to improve QA maturity across the organization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance or testing, ideally within SaaS or InsurTech environments.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and maintain manual and automated testing solutions.
  • Hands‑on experience with testing tools such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or Postman.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD systems, SDLC, and Agile methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration.
  • A passion for continuous improvement and learning new technologies.
