Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Test Engineer III to own end-to-end test campaigns on the Vehicle Test Bench, Flatsat, and HIL environments. You will translate bench test methods into producible procedures and mentor junior team members while coordinating with subsystem engineers on objectives and acceptance testing.

The role requires a bachelor’s in a related field and 5+ years in aerospace hardware testing, with strong skills in GSE, data acquisition, and telemetry interpretation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of hardware test, SIT, or environmental/functional test in aerospace/defense/high-reliability electronics.
• Experience leading end-to-end test campaigns: procedure development, execution, anomaly disposition, reporting.
• Proficiency with test benches, GSE, and data acquisition systems; interpret telemetry in real time.
• Experience with CM, nonconformance, anomaly disposition, and corrective actions.
• Strong written and verbal communication; able to brief status to leadership.

Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Test Engineer III to join the AI&T team on the Terawave program. In this role you will own test campaigns end-to-end on the Vehicle Test Bench (VTB), Flatsat, and HIL environment — from procedure development through formal reporting — and serve as a technical mentor and production transition lead. You will translate bench test methods into producible, repeatable procedures ready for direct adoption by the production line test team.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Develop, own, and execute VTB and HIL verification procedures; drive procedures from draft through formal review and release.

• Lead test campaign execution: manage test readiness gates, coordinate bench configuration, monitor real-time telemetry, and call holds per test rules.

• Capture, disposition, and track test anomalies through closure; author formal test reports and support root cause analysis.

• Develop and maintain lab verification / validation procedures and engage in lab verification activities

• Generate verification artifacts to be reviewed by cross functional stakeholders.

• Mentor Test Engineer I and II team members; review procedures and test reports; provide technical guidance on test execution discipline.

• Interface with subsystem engineers on test objectives, success criteria, and design-for-test requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a closely related field.

• 5+ years of experience in hardware test, system integration and test (SIT), or environmental/functional test in aerospace, defense, or high-reliability electronics.

• Experience leading or owning test campaigns end-to-end: procedure development, execution, anomaly disposition, and formal test reporting.

• Proficiency operating test benches, GSE, and data acquisition systems; ability to interpret telemetry and identify off-nominal conditions in real time.

• Experience with configuration management, nonconformance management, anomaly disposition, and corrective action processes.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to brief test status and anomalies to program leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience on a satellite, launch vehicle, or defense electronics program.

• Background with spacecraft HIL or Flatsat integration and test.

• Experience with automated test execution using Python, LabVIEW, GSEOS, COSMOS, or equivalent toolsets.

• Familiarity with data bus verification (SpaceWire, CAN, MIL-STD-1553, RS-422, Ethernet).

• Experience developing or delivering technical training for production or operations personnel.

• Prior Experience with system level flight software verification

Base Pay Range for:

CA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
