Job summary

INNIO Waukesha is seeking a skilled Electrician to join the Production Testing team in Welland, Ontario. You will lead operation and troubleshooting of engine, generator and test bench systems, including data acquisition, engine controls and PLCs to ensure product performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

The role requires a valid Red Seal (Ontario) 442A or 309A, strong knowledge of 3‑phase power, familiarity with Modbus/CANbus/EtherCAT, and hands‑on experience with test benches,

Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Red Seal - Ontario or inter‑provincial equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of 3‑phase power and engine/generator performance.
  • Experience with test benches, data acquisition and PLCs.
  • Familiarity with industrial protocols (Modbus, CANbus, EtherCAT).
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain advanced test bench systems for engines and gensets.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with engines, generators, and facility systems.
  • Perform engine and generator testing, analyze data, and report results.
  • Connect/disconnect three‑phase generators (400V–13.8kV) per safety procedures.
  • Work with data acquisition, control systems (PLCs), cooling, and facility infra.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Lead root cause investigations and coordinate with maintenance for solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to optimize testing.
  • Support on time delivery and engine completion KPI’s.
  • Contribute to new testing technologies and procedures.
  • Ensure safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support customer factory witness testing.
  • Share expertise and coach team members; drive continuous improvement.

Shift Requirements – For each shift an electrician is needed
  • 6:30am - 3:00pm
  • 2:30pm - 11:00pm
  • 10:30pm - 7am

The salary range for this position is $80,000-$95,000 which will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrician to join our Production Testing team in Welland Ontario Canada, reporting to the Lead Production Test Engineer. In this role, you will lead the operation and troubleshooting of highly complex engine, generator and test bench systems, including data acquisition, engine controls and tuning, cooling, and PLC systems. You will play a key part in ensuring product performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain advanced test bench systems for Waukesha engines and gensets.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues with engines, generators, and supporting facility systems.
  • Perform engine and generator testing, analyze performance data, and report results.
  • Connect and disconnect three-phase generators and associated electrical systems for testing, with voltages ranging from 400V to 13.8kV, in accordance with established safety procedures and regulatory standards.
  • Work with data acquisition, control systems (PLCs), cooling, and other facility infrastructure.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead root cause investigations for test failures and collaborate on solutions. Working alongside maintenance team to provide short-term and long-term solutions on test equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to optimize testing processes.
  • Support business goals and objectives as it relates to on time delivery and engine completion KPI’s
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new testing technologies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
  • Support customer factory witness testing.
  • Provide coaching and expertise to other team members by sharing expertise and working as a team to meet common business objectives.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities to drive efficiency and cost savings.
Qualifications / Requirements
  • Must have a valid Red Seal - Ontario Trade Colleges, 442A Industrial Electrician licence or 309A Licence
  • Solid understanding of reciprocating engine and generator performance dynamics.
  • Strong knowledge of 3 phase power systems
  • Good knowledge of industrial protocols such as: Modbus, CANbus, EtherCAT.
  • Several years of hands‑on experience with troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with test bench operation, data acquisition, PLCs, and facility support systems (cooling, fuel, electrical supply), Generators
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience performing quality inspections and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Able to work on multiple shifts and weekends as required.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Waukesha engines or similar power generation equipment.
  • Background in industrial test environments or power generation facilities.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
  • Familiar with Waukesha product line.
