A prominent IT services firm is seeking an experienced Test Automation Specialist to join their Agile Scrum team. This hybrid position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining automated test suites for a Payment and Settlement solution. Overview

Position Description : We are seeking an experienced Test Automation Specialist to join our Agile Scrum team in the development of a Payment and Settlement Solution. This role involves designing implementing and maintaining automated test suites for a modern SPA built using Angular and Spring Boot. As part of a cross-functional Agile team the Test Automation Specialist will collaborate with developers product owners and QA engineers to ensure the delivery of high-quality scalable software. This role requires strong technical expertise in TypeScript Playwright and backend / API testing in complex high-performance financial systems.

This position is hybrid requiring 2-3 days a week in any CGI Atlantic location: Halifax NS, Moncton or Fredericton NB, Stratford PE or St. Johns NL. Additionally Reliability clearance is required for this role (must reside in Canada 5 years to be eligible).

Your future duties and responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain automated test suites for Angular-based SPA and Spring Boot backend services
  • Implement end-to-end testing using Playwright simulating complex user interactions
  • Develop and execute API tests using tools such as JUnit, RestAssured or Postman
  • Integrate automated tests into CI / CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI or CircleCI
  • Collaborate with team members in an Agile Scrum environment—participating in sprint planning, reviews and retrospectives
  • Clearly communicate test coverage results and defects to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing strategies, frameworks and processes
  • Perform performance and load testing using tools such as JMeter or Gatling to ensure system scalability and reliability
Required qualifications
  • 3 years of experience working in Agile / Scrum teams
  • Proven expertise in test automation for web applications with a focus on frontend (Angular) and backend (Spring Boot)
  • Strong programming skills in TypeScript for writing automation scripts
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright for end-to-end browser automation
  • Familiarity with testing frameworks such as JUnit and TestNG
  • Experience testing RESTful APIs with Postman, RestAssured or equivalent tools
  • Proficiency with Git and version control best practices
  • Experience integrating tests into CI / CD workflows (e.g. Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI)
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
  • Strong attention to detail and a focus on delivering high-quality testable software
  • Nice to have experience in performance testing using JMeter, Gatling or similar tools
  • Nice to have prior experience in financial or payment systems or other complex domain applications
