Job summary

The University of Saskatchewan invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Periodontology faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will teach didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical courses, supervise student research, and participate in scholarly activities while pursuing external funding.

Applicants must hold a DDS or DMD with specialty training in Periodontology; PhD/MSc is highly regarded.

Job description

Tenure Track Faculty Position, Periodontology

The College of Dentistry invites applications from qualified individuals for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Periodontology at the academic ranking of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will be required to deliver didactic, pre-clinical and clinical teaching; supervise student research projects and participate in research activities; compete successfully for internal and external funding to support their research program; and undertake relevant administrative activities.

Applicants must possess a DDS or DMD (or equivalent) degree and specialty training in Periodontology. A strong preference will be given to candidates who hold a PhD or MSc degree with a solid emerging record of research and/or academic accomplishments. Postdoctoral training is also considered an asset. Desirable attributes include effective classroom teaching skills, strong mentoring abilities, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Salary information for this position for the 2025-2026 academic year is as follows: Assistant Professor: $110,489 to $131,909; Associate Professor: $131,909 to $153,329; and Professor: $153,329 to $178,319. Independent of rank, a starting salary above the standard salary bands is usually common and possible in the College of Dentistry.

This tenure-track position is supported by start-up funds designed to enable early success in research and scholarship. Start-up support may include resources for establishing research infrastructure, initiating pilot studies, and advancing scholarly activities aligned with the College’s strategic research priorities. The level and structure of start-up funding will be commensurate with the candidate’s experience, research program, and anticipated funding trajectory.
