Job description

Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) is seeking qualified candidates to renew its faculty and ensure high-quality development in all its areas of activity. Located in downtown Montréal, the six departments of UQAM’s Faculty of Science include several research centers and chairs.

The Department of Biological Sciences at UQAM invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Immunotoxicology, a discipline at the interface between immunology and toxicology. The successful candidate will contribute to student training in the fields of biological sciences, health, and the environment, and will develop a high-level research program in immunotoxicology.

The successful candidate will develop an innovative, original, and multidisciplinary research program in immunotoxicology focusing on human and/or animal health, at both the systemic and molecular/cellular levels (e.g. “omics” approaches). The candidate’s expertise will complement the research themes of the Centre de recherche en toxicologie et santé de l’environnement (TOXEN) and/or the Centre d’excellence en recherche sur les maladies orphelines – Fondation Courtois (CERMO-FC). Research integrating the “One Health” approach, connecting sustainable human, animal, and environmental health, will be given priority.

The professor will actively participate in teaching and training at the undergraduate and graduate levels in the Department of Biological Sciences. Teaching duties include immunology, toxicology, and environmental health, within programs such as the Problem-Based Learning bachelor’s in biology, the Bachelor’s in Biochemistry, the graduate diploma in Life and Biopharmaceutical Sciences, and interdisciplinary programs at the Institute of Environmental Sciences, including the Bachelor’s in Applied Natural Sciences for the Environment. The successful candidate will also supervise students at all three levels (BSc, MSc, PhD) and contribute to university services (e.g., departmental, faculty, and institutional committees) as well as to external academic or professional communities.

FUNCTION SUMMARY
