Job description
Overview

Tenure track faculty member in Large Animal Internal Medicine in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences. The position has a 50% appointment in clinical teaching and service, with out-of-hours service currently shared with two other faculty members. The successful applicant will deliver didactic lectures to DVM undergraduate students, supervise graduate students, and provide formalized training and supervision of interns and residents. The candidate must communicate effectively, work collegially, and collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities
  • Provide in-house primary care and referral services for large animals, including equine and food and fiber species.
  • Deliver didactic lectures to DVM undergraduates.
  • Supervise graduate students and provide formal training and supervision of interns and residents.
  • Collaborate with the Large Animal Internal Medicine team and other departments as needed.
Qualifications
  • DVM degree or equivalent, plus an advanced postgraduate degree (MSc or PhD).
  • Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM). Non-boarded candidates may be considered if they have completed an ACVIM-registered residency.
  • Desirable academic experience in equine medicine and ability to provide service to production animals (e.g., cattle, small ruminants).
  • Commitment to high-quality teaching and patient care; ability to succeed in a collaborative clinical and teaching environment; interest in scholarly activity (grants, supervising postgraduate students, publication).
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills.
Salary and Benefits

Salary bands for the 2025-2026 academic year: Assistant Professor: $110,489 to $131,909; Associate Professor: $131,909 to $153,329; Professor: $153,329 to $178,319. An attractive faculty research start-up package is available.
