Job summary

Lookout Housing and Health Society is seeking a part-time Tenant Support Worker for the Night shift at Red Lion Inn in Abbotsford. You will assist residents, develop service plans, and coordinate supports to promote independence and safety.

The role requires regulatory compliance, respirator fit testing, and adherence to COR standards. A diploma in social services and related certificates are expected, with a weekend night schedule and a $33.49–$35.31/hour wage.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Community Social Service required or equivalent experience.
• Class 5 BC Drivers' License only if required by role.
• OFA 1 First Aid and Food Safe certificates may be required.
• Two years sobriety if managing alcohol/drug problems.
• Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector.

Responsibilities

• Participate in tenant intakes and provide support services.
• Identify tenant challenges, develop service plans and crisis interventions.
• Assist with finances, medications, and basic needs.
• Complete required paperwork and maintain data.
• Support volunteers and practicum students on site.
• Some external work may occur; automobile use may be useful.
• Adhere to health and safety rules and ensure a safe environment.

Days and Hours of work

Friday through Saturday
Shift times will be 23:00 - 07:00 Hours
Shifts are 7.5 hours in length
Days of rest shall be consecutive. Schedule may change with two weeks' notice
Probationary/qualifying period will be 488 hours with mid and end point reviews
Night premium will be given to staff that work 50% or more of their shift between 00:00-08:00 Hours

$33.49 - 35.31depending upon applicants' length of seniority (as per the Collective Agreement)

Job Summary

The Tenant Support Worker (TSW) reports to the Site Manager and works in accordance with the mission andphilosophy of Lookout Housing and Health Society, including following Lookout's Code of Ethics. The TSW works with residents to provide assistance, support, education, and skills training. The TSW will work with tenants to maintain and develop greater independence and stability with the goal of a healthier and more independent living arrangement.

This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use, employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face.

Job Duties

• Will participate in tenant intakes, and provide support services and assessments
• Will identify challenges for tenants, develop service plans, crisis intervention, and administer finances and medication
• Ensure that basic needs are met by working closely with individuals on a long-term, ongoing basis
• Complete required paperwork and maintain statistical and evaluative data
• Assist with volunteers and practicum students on site
• Some external work is likely to occur; use of an automobile may, at times, be useful
• Employees are expected to remain alert and attentive during working hours. Sleeping during shifts is not permitted
• Responsible for complying with and contributing to all aspects of health and safety program

Qualifications & Competence

• Diploma in Community Social Service
• Class 5 BC Drivers' License (*Only if required)
• OFA 1 First Aid Certificate
• Food Safe Certificate (*Only if required)
• Recent related experience of two (2) year's OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience OR other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the work.
• A minimum of two (2) years sobriety if having alcohol and/or drug problems.
• Criminal Record Clearance – Vulnerable Sector
