Job description
Overview

NAIT is recruiting temporary instructors for its Heavy Equipment Technician program. The role is a temporary position ending on or before June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension and is used to fill multiple positions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and present learning outcomes and activities in a classroom, laboratory, and industry setting
  • Participate in curriculum development, program reviews, and course reviews
  • Facilitate the learning process by utilizing instructional strategies that ensure efficient and effective delivery of course materials
  • Manage instructional delivery and set the tone and climate for a safe and effective learning environment
  • Create assessment tools to evaluate the learning process and maintain progress records
  • Provide early and ongoing coaching and tutoring for students to maximize student success and retention
  • Respond to student issues
  • Utilize appropriate educational technology for presentations, communications, and program promotions
  • Maintain and/or submit program/student records accurately and promptly
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships with students, colleagues, and industry partners
  • Actively participate in the strategies of NAIT’s Strategic Plan and NAIT’s Academic Plan as identified by the institute
  • Utilize regular student feedback to identify and implement instructional improvement
  • Improve the quality of instruction through professional development activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Completion of Heavy Equipment Journeyperson ticket or provincial equivalent including Inter‑Provincial Red Seal
  • Minimum 5 years recent industry experience after completion of Journeyperson ticket
  • Teaching experience is an asset
  • Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS)
Remuneration

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, plus 18.5% in lieu of statutory holiday pay and vacation pay. The instructor salary grid ranges from $34.48 to $59.98 per hour, with starting salaries for new hires averaging between $41.77 and $45.41 per hour.
