Position Summary
The Analyst – Server Support is responsible for the installation, maintenance, support, backups, and security of the Board server environment (Central/Corporate, School servers, Physical and Cloud). Working with the Senior Analyst – Server Support, the Analyst improves documentation and supports the Board’s information technology strategic direction and budget for lifecycle management of enterprise applications and hardware. Responsibilities also include monitoring enterprise applications for security threats, managing vendor relationships, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to Information Services team members and board staff, and performing tasks outside normal working hours when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, monitor, and maintain Board server environments (Central/Corporate, School servers, Physical and Cloud) on-premises and in the cloud according to Board standards.
- Perform operational patch management of Board infrastructure and enterprise applications; respond to zero‑day and critical issues, determining mitigation strategies in collaboration with the Senior Analyst – Server Support.
- Administer system tasks including monitoring, maintenance, optimization, troubleshooting, and production support for Board environments and applications.
- Develop and deliver training to ensure Board standards for application environments are followed and continuously updated.
- Manage server and software asset life‑cycle, recommending cost‑effective solutions and projects to reduce vulnerability.
- Configure and enforce security for enterprise applications.
- Train team members in troubleshooting and use of tools.
- Respond to security alerts and resolve issues.
- Facilitate upgrades and remediate security and enhancements with Functional Leads and vendors.
- Create technical and end‑user documentation supporting Enterprise applications.
- Manage device access and security settings through the Google Admin Console and Microsoft Group Policy.
- Investigate potential security vulnerabilities, breaches, alerts, and user‑reported events.
- Proactively research and mitigate system vulnerabilities affecting sensitive Board data and Enterprise systems.
- Monitor and ensure access to enterprise applications (e.g., Google Workspace for Education, Microsoft Entra ID). Administer the Google Admin Console and Microsoft Entra ID/AD environments.
- Resolve security issues, implement mitigations, and inform long‑term solutions.
- Perform security and access investigations as directed by management.
- Audit application security against Board Identity and Access standards, working with functional leads and vendors.
- Coordinate with users, management, and Privacy & Records Manager for evidence gathering and reporting.
- Provide user support, advice, and guidance.
- Maintain up‑to‑date security response documentation.
- Participate in incident response teams and maintain related documentation.
- Evaluate and recommend hardware and software upgrades.
- Ensure proper operation and functionality of systems.
- Engage in continuous professional development and vendor‑focused training.
- Research emerging security threats and propose solutions.
- Collaborate cross‑departmentally to provide comprehensive system support.
- Mentor Information Services team members on enterprise applications, security, and infrastructure.
- Lead cross‑departmental teams to investigate and resolve issues.
- Develop and deliver training on enterprise applications and best practices.
- Create customized training sessions based on departmental needs.
- Analyze business workflows and develop optimizations for Board operations.
- Communicate effectively with peers, departments, and sites.
- Provide high‑level messaging for system-wide issues.
- Diffuse conflict with users experiencing technology challenges.
- Act as an escalation point for Information Services teams to resolve concerns.
Qualifications Required
- College degree in a related Information Technology field.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a security/cybersecurity role.
- Cybersecurity or Vulnerability certification (ISECOM, ISC2 CC, CISA, MITRE, or equivalent).
- Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification or equivalent.
- Google Workspace Level 2 certification.
- Networking certification (e.g., Network+).
Preferred Qualifications
- College degree in Computer Systems, Networking, and Server Engineering.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience, including 2 years in a security/cybersecurity role.
- ISC2-SSCP, CCSP, or Professional Security Analyst certification.
- Microsoft Azure Security Administrator certification.
- Google Admin Level 2+ certification.
- Credential achievements toward Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).
