Temporary 60 hour Biweekly Part-Time Recreation Aide at Extendicare Holyrood in Edmonton Alberta

Reporting to the Recreation Therapist the Recreation Aide provides Recreation Services in the area of Resident programming and care.

Responsibilities

Assumes responsibility under the supervision of the Recreation Therapist for the implementation and maintenance of Resident programming in groups or individually.

Supervise Volunteers & Students during Program Implementation.

Communicates with other team members who provide Resident Care Services.

Encourages and motivates Residents to reach and maintain their maximum potential; records Resident participation in programs, maintains Resident statistics, assists & plans special events.

Plan & implement One-to-One Visits & Small Group Programs.

Qualifications

Proof of successful completion of an approved Recreation and Leisure Services / Gerontology Diploma or Degree program.

Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-one / group program planning, care planning, resident assessments, implementation and evaluation for geriatric population especially those cognitively impaired.

Read, write and communicate fluently in English.

Physically capable of performing duties required in a fast paced environment.

Able to work within an interdisciplinary team.

Have critical thinking skills and be able to problem solve.

Must be able to work with minimal supervision and accept responsibility for delegated functions and have a strong ability to prioritize and organize tasks.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
