Full Time Headingley, MB, CA

Salary Range: $60,000.00 To $70,000.00 Annually

Who We Are

ROHL Global Networks Inc. is a diversified infrastructure company based in Western Canada, with expanding operations across North America. Originally established as a leading provider of telecommunications and utility infrastructure design and construction, ROHL has strategically grown into real estate development and management, solar energy systems, and power infrastructure, serving enterprise, government, and wholesale clients.

From building fiber optic and high-voltage systems to delivering solar farms and enabling AI-driven data centers and EV infrastructure, ROHL plays a critical role in powering the future of Canada’s built environment.

Our CAD / GIS Services team is growing, and we’re looking for an Intermediate Telecommunication Drafting Technician who’s ready to hit the ground running, crafting the high-quality drawings that guide our telecom and utility projects from first permit to final as-built. If you take pride in precise, well-built drawing packages and want to see your work help connect communities across Canada, we’d love to hear from you.

The Role

This is an in-office position reporting to the Manager, CAD / GIS Services. The Telecommunication Drafting Technician will compile relevant information, including GPS data, building plans, and pipeline information, to create high-quality drawings for permitting, review, construction, and as-builts for our clients.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and confident working in AutoCAD from concept to final design, gathering information from field crews and third-party sources, and working closely with Project Managers and customers to deliver accurate, construction-ready drawing packages.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting and Design

  • Create CAD drawings from concept to final design, drawn to scale and suitably detailed to convey the information required for construction, using GPS data, engineering calculations, specification sheets, and other data
  • Operate computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) and drafting workstations
  • Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets
  • Check and verify design drawings to confirm they conform to specifications and design data, and correct any errors

Data Review and As-Builts

  • Review data collected from the field and other third-party sources to create drawing packages and as-builts
  • Obtain information from third-party sources including municipalities, utilities, Google Earth, and other mapping applications

Permitting and Coordination

  • Obtain permits from stakeholders as required for construction of prepared drawing packages
  • Interact with Project Managers and customers to provide quality drawings and ensure they comply with project requirements

What You Bring

Requirements

  • Engineering Design Technology Diploma or AutoCAD Operator Certificate, along with 2–5 years of experience in drafting/design in AutoCAD.
  • Solid working knowledge of AutoCAD in a design capacity, including layer management and usage, and the ability to import and export various file types such as .shp, .dwg, .dgn, and .pdf.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat, with a strong aptitude for computers.
  • Comfort obtaining information from third-party sources, including municipalities, utilities, Google Earth, and other mapping applications.
  • Strong mathematical and technical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for meetings and interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Pride in your work, with strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and prioritization skills.
  • Organized and able to handle pressure and deadlines, working both independently and as part of a team.

Extra Strengths We Value

  • Experience in telecommunications design.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools within a CAD environment.
  • A deeper understanding of how AutoCAD works behind the scenes, such as writing LISP routines or other programming and customization within the AutoCAD environment.
  • A background in quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC).
  • Knowledge of ESRI’s ArcGIS platform and web mapping.
  • Experience with FTTX planning and design.
