Job summary

Ericsson Canada Inc. in Ottawa is seeking a highly motivated Co-op student to join the Radio Architecture and Functions team.

You will work on advanced wireless technologies, machine learning applications, and signal processing for next-gen radio systems, collaborating with experts in Canada and Sweden. The role involves developing algorithms, analyzing field data, setting up prototype test beds, and performing HW/SW tests in a lab environment, with opportunities to contribute to documentation

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical field related to wireless or computing.
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or C/C++.
• Exposure to ML frameworks and signal processing fundamentals.
• Experience with Linux development environments and MATLAB is a plus.
• Hands-on with hardware test beds and data analytics encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement efficient algorithms (including ML) for radio products.
• Analyze field data for product performance in customer networks.
• Develop simulation strategies and execute them.
• Set up prototype software and hardware test beds and environments.
• Run HW/SW tests in a lab and collect data for analysis.
• Assist in documentation and troubleshooting of product issues.
• Participate in team product/process reviews.

The position offers a unique opportunity to work on advanced wireless communication technologies, machine learning applications, and signal processing algorithms for next-generation radio systems. You will collaborate with experts across Canada and Sweden and gain hands-on experience in algorithm development and/or data analytics.What you will do

• Work with team members to develop and implement efficient Algorithms (including machine learning) for radio products.
• Analyze field data for Ericsson product performance in customer networks.
• Develop Simulation strategies and methodologies and follow through with execution.
• Set up Prototype software and hardware test beds, systems, and environments.
• Execute HW/SW tests in a lab environment and gather data for analysis.
• Perform data and result analysis by extracting relevant content from test results and data log files.
• Work closely in a hands-on manner with hardware and systems designers.
• Assist in formal documentation of requirements and traceability.
• Assist in troubleshooting and solving product issues.
• Participate in team product/process reviews.

The skills your bring

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in:
• Electrical Engineering
• Computer Engineering
• Computer Science
• Wireless Communications
• Signal Processing
• Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning or a related field.
• Programming experience in Python and/or C/C++
• Knowledge of machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or scikit-learn.
• Understanding of signal processing fundamentals
• Knowledge of wireless communication systems.
• MATLAB experience.
• Familiarity with Linux development environments
• Experience with FPGA, DSP, or embedded systems
• Experience with lab equipment such as signal generators and spectrum analyzers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
