This is a safety-sensitive position, the successful candidate(s) will be required to successfully complete mandatory pre-employment drug and alcohol testing to comply with SaskPower’s Fit for Duty Policy.
The employee in this classification is responsible to perform a variety of office, onsite and project assignments associated with the planning, design, construction, modification, maintenance and operation of SaskPower’s facilities, equipment and infrastructure. This position will also be responsible to provide support to professionals, perform quality assurance and quality control functions while managing various budget, tendering and estimating duties related to departmental projects and functions.
1. In the event there are no qualified applicants, applicants holding an Associate Membership through TPS or an equivalent institution may be considered for the position. The applicant must obtain the Professional Technologist (P.Tech) designation within three (3) years of being successfully appointed to the position.
2. Employees failing any prescribed examination and applicable rewrites required to achieve the required certification/designation within the allowed time frames shall be reverted to their previous rate of pay and will be required to procure another position through the bidding procedure in the following thirty (30) day calendar period. If such employee does not procure another position in this time, the employee will be issued a notice of lay off based on current Labour Standards requirements.
3. Employees appointed to the position will work towards the commissioning exam, commissioning projects span 1-2 years on average. Upon completion of the commissioning exam, employees will move to the premium rate of Class Code 15109.
4. Candidates must be able to perform the physical aspects of the position.
5. This is a road crew position; some nights out will be required.
This position falls within the scope of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), Local 2067.
