Job summary

The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB) is inviting applications for Occasional Teacher positions. We welcome applicants with OCT certificates, transitional certificates, or registration in a Bachelor of Education.

Candidates with trades experience and a passion for teaching are encouraged to apply. Applicants must provide the HCDSB Application Form, cover letter, résumé, Faith Reference Portfolio, and one of the OCT credentials or proof of BEd progression.

Qualifications

  • Must hold OCT Certificate of Qualification and Registration or Transitional/Multi-Session Transitional where applicable.
  • Experience or aptitude for teaching in a Catholic school setting is preferred.
  • Commitment to equity, inclusion, and safe learning environments.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and support students in alignment with Ontario curriculum and school policies.
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and accessible learning environment.
  • Participate in the recruitment process and provide required documentation when requested.

A provincial leader in student achievement, Halton Catholic District School Board provides exceptional educational experiences and services to over 36,000 students of all ages across our 46 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, and 3 continuing education facilities, serving the wider Catholic communities of Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville.

Position Details

Beginning in September 2024, students entering Grade 9 will be required to take at least one (1) technological credit in high school. This new requirement is aimed at creating new pathways in the skilled trades and STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

We are looking for individuals to share their work experiences!

The Board is now accepting applications for Occasional Teacher positions.

We welcome applications from:

  • Teachers holding a Certificate of Qualification and Registration from the OCT
  • Teachers holding a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration from the OCT
  • Teachers holding a Multi-Session Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration
  • Education students registered in a Bachelor of Education Program (Year Two)
  • Experienced Trades professionals with an aptitude for teaching

Experienced Teacher applicants are also encouraged to provide:

Please be advised as a condition of employment, candidates will be required to provide the following documentation upon hire:
  • An original Criminal Reference Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening, dated within six (6) months
  • A Pastoral Letter of Reference from a Roman Catholic Priest, dated within twelve (12) months)
