Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Varennes is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join the production team. You will contribute to manufacturing performance, drive improvements, and collaborate with operations, quality, maintenance, and engineering to deliver efficient, safe processes.

You will spend time on the production floor and in supporting capital equipment integration, process validation, and the development of robust production standards and documentation. Bilingual communication is required.

Qualifications

  • Technical degree (DEP or DEC) in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 7 to 15 years of relevant experience in manufacturing engineering.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing control systems, manufacturing optimization, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience with root cause problem‑solving methodologies (RCCM, Kaizen, Lean).
  • Experience supporting capital equipment projects and interpreting process data, KPI metrics, and time studies.
  • Bilingual (French and English).

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing performance, stability, and continuous improvement initiatives within an assigned manufacturing area.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support on the production floor to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve production standards, work instructions, and business improvement documentation.
  • Facilitate structured problem‑solving activities (RCCM, Kaizen, RPS, ABRA).
  • Support APQP deliverables including PFMEA development and maintenance to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks.
  • Participate in capital equipment integration, commissioning, FAT/SAT activities, and manufacturing validation efforts.
  • Partner with cross‑functional teams for new product introduction, industrialization, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Monitor KPIs, conduct time studies, and use data to identify improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.

Technicien manufacturier / Manufacturing technician

The Opportunity

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our manufacturing team in Varennes. In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for manufacturing performance, stability, and continuous improvement within an assigned production area. You will spend approximately 50% of your time on the production floor, partnering closely with operations, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to support safe, efficient, and standardized manufacturing processes. You will play a key role in resolving production challenges, implementing manufacturing improvements, supporting capital equipment integration, and driving productivity, quality, and cost initiatives. Through data‑driven manufacturing optimization, continuous improvement activities, and collaboration across functions, your work will directly contribute to operational excellence, manufacturing reliability, and the delivery of innovative energy solutions that support a more sustainable and resilient power grid.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Support manufacturing performance, stability, and continuous improvement initiatives within an assigned manufacturing area.

Your Background

Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.

Technical degree (DEP or DEC) in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

7 to 15 years of relevant experience.

Experience working in a manufacturing engineering environment is considered an asset.

Knowledge of manufacturing control systems, manufacturing optimization, and continuous improvement practices in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with root cause problem‑solving methodologies, including RCCM, Kaizen, and Lean principles.

Experience supporting capital equipment projects and the ability to interpret process data, KPI metrics, and time studies.

Bilingual (French and English).
