Job summary

A leading sugar refining company based in Toronto is seeking a Packaging Maintenance Technician to ensure the efficient operation of packaging machinery. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a Millwright Trade designation. Responsibilities include maintaining cleanliness and safety standards and working closely with supervisors to minimize downtime. This role requires a commitment to safety and the ability to work on a shifting schedule.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems would be an asset.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuits and power supplies, gearboxes, motors, and pneumatics.

OVERVIEW

To maintain the efficient operation of all packaging machinery. This position operates on a Continental shift rotation, 12-hour shifts, rotating between days and nights, in which you will report to the Packaging Maintenance Supervisor.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ensure the safe and reliable operation of all packaging machinery
  • Great level of Troubleshooting skills of high-speed packaging lines
  • Possesses excellent knowledge of mechanical stroke and timing concepts for cam-follower equipment
  • Report any equipment deficiencies immediately to Maintenance Supervisor
  • Involvement in the company Continuous Improvement program
  • Work in accordance with the Redpath Health and Safety program
  • Contribute to a positive workplace environment
  • Work closely with Production Supervisor to prioritize jobs and minimize production downtime
  • Consider the long-term sustainability of all activities and endeavour to reduce, reuse and recycle resources in line with ASR policy.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of workplace health and safety matters relevant to your work.
  • Exhibit positive collegial behaviours
  • Maintain packaging area upkeep and cleanliness to the highest industry standard
  • Perform packaging machine changeovers when required
  • Completion of scheduled PM work and closing of work orders
  • Able to troubleshoot in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and prioritize according to business needs
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal, complete shift reports with accurate information
WORK EXPERIENCES
  • Minimum 5 years maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of SAP would be an asset
  • Basic knowledge of Allen Bradley PLC’s
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits and power supplies, gearboxes, motors, pneumatics.
  • Experience with electrical systems would be an asset

  • Millwright Trade designation and/or equivalent packaging maintenance experience

  • Ability to work rotating shifts and OT if required
  • Must be able to perform tasks wearing required PPE such as but not limited to protective footwear, clothing, safety glasses/goggles, etc.
