Job summary

Agnico Eagle Mines Limited is seeking an Exploration support technician to assist geologists in field operations and at the core shack. You will perform drill site inspections, downhole surveys, core sampling and QA/QC, ensuring safety and environmental standards are followed.

The role requires a mining tech diploma and 3 years in exploration or core shack, with strong surveying and equipment handling skills. Accommodation, meals, and fly-in options may be provided for site work.

Qualifications

• College diploma in mining technology or relevant training with 3 years in exploration/core shack.
• Methodological and rigorous approach is essential.
• Physically capable of lifting 50 pounds and walking long distances in tundra.
• Experience in a core shack supporting geologists.
• Experience with remediation and reclamation work is an asset.
• Experience around helicopters and external loads is an asset.
• Surveying experience required.
• Familiar with total station, Leica, GPS and drone operation.
• Basic vehicle operation skills (snowcat, challenger, skid steer).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:

Reporting to the Coordinator, Exploration, you will be part of the Exploration Team. You will directly be supporting geologists and ensure smooth operations in the field and at the core shack. You will have hands‑on tasks such as drill site inspections, surveying, downhole surveys, preparing access to drill sites, etc. According to site priorities, you could also receive, prepare and sample drill core for the geologists, data QA/QC and supporting activities at the core shack. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.

Work collaboratively and respectfully with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow;

Participate in the health & safety meetings and ensure that the environmental and safety protocols are followed on the work sites.

Choose and implement access to drilling sites

Conduct environmental and health and safety inspections at drilling sites.

Conduct and train on the use of downhole survey and oriented core instrumentation.

Based on priorities, participate in ice construction programs and ice sheet maintenance (surveys, ice profiling, ice pad construction)

Participate to drill core reception at the core shack

Conduct drill core sampling and ensure that every QA/QC protocol is properly respected;

Prepare drill core for geologists (core tech)

Conduct oriented core re‑assembly and orientation lines determination

Ensure the core shack is organized and clean at all time

Support the maintenance of camps, buildings, vehicles, and equipment.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

College Diploma in mining technology or any other training deemed relevant combined with 3 years of experience in exploration or a core shack.

Methodological and rigorous approach.

Physical ability to manipulate loads of 50 pounds and walk extended distances in the tundra.

Experience working in a core shack and supporting geologists.

Experience with remediation and reclamation work.

Experience working around helicopters and with external loads is considered an asset.

Surveying experience.

Familiarity with total station, Leica, GPS, and drone operation are considered an asset.

Basic vehicle operator skills (snowcat, challenger, skid steer) are considered an asset.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Excel.

Note that the official working language at our Nunavut operations is English.

Your Work Schedule:

Schedule: 14 days of work, followed by 14 days for transportation and rest;

Accommodations and meals are provided on site at no cost to the employee. Agnico Eagle provides charter flights to and from the mine site and will accommodate to cover other travelling expenses according to your location of residence in Canada.
