Qualifications

SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. is seeking a Casual Technician Assistant who is self‑motivated and safety‑oriented to join our team. SUMMIT Inspection Services Ltd. has provided in‑service pressure vessel inspections predominately to the Oil and Gas industry across western Canada since 2004, and is seeking a skilled, experienced, and team‑oriented candidate who values quality and integrity.

LOCATION
  • This position is located at our Edmonton Office 2 Days a week
  • Requires out of town travel with readiness for possible short notice travel on as needed bases
Shop Assistant Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Maintenance and cleaning of Employer’s equipment, vehicles, and other property especially after use.
  • Equipment organizing, tracking and logistics
  • prepare tools for staff as needed.
  • Help with day‑to‑day shop operations and maintaining a clean, organized and safe work environment.
  • Complete any relevant specific job duties as required by immediate supervision.
Technician Assistant Tasks And Responsibilities
  • Utilize and set up equipment in nondestructive test
  • Assist NDT technicians in the calibration of NDT equipment’s
  • Assisting the NDT technicians in conducting tests in order to ensure the quality or detecting deficiencies using the NDT procedures of inspecting
  • Record the results of the inspections and also perform NDT methods and other operations
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment
  • Ensure work performed is in regulation to applicable codes, standards, and specifications
  • Communicate with clients in a friendly, efficient and professional manner
  • Maintain company fleet and materials (clean, maintain and report deficiencies to supervisors)
  • Maintain a clean shop area and ensure all work areas are tidy, clean and free of clutter
  • Work with the technician/senior inspector to prepare equipment for inspection
  • Transport and position inspection equipment
  • Work in confined spaces/from heights
  • Information gathering and analysis
  • Responsible to report any unsafe work activities, hazards, or concerns
  • Responsible to adhere to all safety regulations, standards and maintain safe work practices
Skills And Qualifications
  • Must have the following valid safety certifications prior to employment: H2S Alive, Emergency First Aid, Common Safety Orientation (CSO), Confined Space Entry and Rescue, and OSSA Fall Protection, Evaluated Work Platform.
  • Must hold a valid Class Five Drivers License without restrictions and clear drivers abstract.
  • Prior experience in construction or NDT Industry is considered an asset
  • Other Non‑Destructive Testing (NDT) pre‑employment training considered an asset
  • Additional certifications an asset (Gas Testing/Monitoring, Emergency Fire Fighting, etc.)
  • Completion of the NDT Foundations course is considered an asset
  • Experience towing cargo trailers
  • Experience utilizing and working with construction equipment (hammers, sockets, ratchet straps, etc.)
