The Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention (TCTBI) is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) rTMS Technician. The Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention at CAMH offers Canada’s most advanced and extensive brain stimulation program. Here, novel brain stimulation techniques are delivered to people with serious and persistent mental illness; effectively relieving symptoms with significantly fewer side-effects. The technician will report to the Clinic Manager and join a productive clinical research team investigating the use of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) for the treatment of various mental disorders. rTMS is a non-invasive form of brain stimulation used to treat symptoms of mental illness with a favourable adverse effect profile. The technician will be responsible for the administration of rTMS to inpatients and outpatients meeting under treatment protocols running in the Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention. rTMS will be applied as per the protocol outlined by one of the Brain Stimulation Psychiatrists. Further, the technician will participate in an rTMS certification process under the supervision of a Brain Stimulation Psychiatrist who will provide technical certification. Additional responsibilities will include independent patient recruitment and consent; education and dissemination of information about the studies to patients, families, and mental health professionals; data entry and clerical duties including maintenance of study files and health records. This position is currently located at 1025 Queen Street West.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field; preference for specialization in Psychology.
  • One year of experience interacting with clients.
  • Basic first aid certification and yearly renewal.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Preference for familiarity or expertise in mental health.
