Job summary

Scarborough Toyota, part of Canada One Auto Group in Toronto, is looking for an Automotive Technician to diagnose, repair and service vehicles to factory and dealership standards.

The role requires a valid Automotive Technician License, a valid G class license, at least 3 years of automotive experience, and a strong customer-service mindset. You will train apprentices and collaborate with service advisors in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Automotive Technician License.
• A valid G class license with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Minimum 3 years of automotive industry experience.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent customer service skills and communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and service vehicles to dealership standards.
• Review damage reports, prepare and review repair cost estimates and plan work.
• Diagnose and repair transmissions, brakes, drive lines, etc.
• Diagnose cause of malfunction and utilize available resources.
• Explain repairs to service advisors and customers in non-technical terms.
• Coach and instruct apprentices.
• Follow warranty policies and procedures on all warranty work.
• Inspect completed work for quality and appearance.

As an Automotive Technician, a typical day might include the following:

• Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repair to shop specifications
• Review damage reports, prepare and review repair cost estimates and plan work to be performed
• Diagnoses and effects repairs of transmissions, clutches, front/rear axles, differentials, brake systems, drive lines, etc
• Diagnoses cause of malfunction, utilizing all available resources
• Repair or replace mechanical units or components
• Maintain records of maintenance performed, parts and supplies used
• Perform work specified on maintenance and repair orders with efficiency and in accordance with dealership and/or factory standards
• Explain mechanical diagnoses and required repairs in a non-technical manner to service advisors and customers
• Coach and instruct apprentices
• Follow warranty policies and procedures on all warranty work
• Inspect repaired vehicles for proper completion of work, dimensional accuracy, and overall appearance of paint job
• Inspect and test used vehicles and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made
• Continuously learn new technical information and techniques in formal training sessions in order to stay abreast with rapidly changing technology
