Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Digital Protection & Control Systems or Energy Management Solutions design engineering for utilities and industrials, ideally within Grid Automation.
• Relevant experience in Electric Power Distribution Automation, Process Bus, Substation Digitization, Monitoring & Diagnostics, Asset Performance Management (APM), Device Management (DvM), or Cybersecurity Management.
• Proficient in designing and programming electrical control systems, including SCADA/HMI, cybersecurity, network equipment, IEC61850, Firewalls, and more.
• Fluent in English.
• Ability to travel 30% in the U.S. and Canada.

Responsibilities

• Lead Technical Projects: Drive technical project activities and ensure successful project execution from design to commissioning.
• Customer: Be the main technical interface between the customer and our project execution team. Lead customer technical meetings including kickoff, specification clarifications and design reviews.
• Project Management: Participate in project risk and opportunity reviews, manage project budgets in term of man-days allocated to the engineering tasks, and provide regular progress updates. Collaborate with the Project Manager for project planning, risk mitigation and change requests.
• Design and Documentation: Analyse customer specifications, write project technical documentation, and validate technical solutions with customers, and ensure adherence to project document control.
• Technical Oversight: Specify software and IEDs, manage technical execution planning, and ensure adherence to GE Vernova safety standards.
• Issue Resolution: Address technical deviations, manage fault reports, and support site engineers remotely or on-site.
• Testing and Commissioning: Lead Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests, and coordinate with commissioning teams for major site milestones.
• Training and Support: Provide project-specific training to customers, support tendering and commercial teams, and ensure customer satisfaction through professional project execution.

Job Description Summary

The Technical Leader leads the technical design, development, and implementation of comprehensive solution architectures from presales through delivery. This role will drive execution of key offerings including Distribution Automation, Process Bus Digital Substations, Cybersecurity, and Top-Down Engineering Solutions.

This individual will collaborate with business development and sales teams to analyze customer needs and translate into technical specifications aligned with the company’s overall technology strategy. Project execution encompasses hardware devices (protection relays, bay controller units, auxiliary relays, industrial computers, synchronizing clocks, telecom equipment) and software applications (distribution automation, process bus, advanced protection schemes, cybersecurity management, device management, assets performance, microgrid) to monitor, control and protect various industrial applications in the energy sector.

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $110,500 and $160,500 CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set.
