Job summary

Fidelity Canada is seeking a Technical Director to lead the Client Experience technology portfolio and act as the IS SME and primary technology lead. You will align technology strategy with business objectives, guide delivery, and foster partnerships across business and technology teams.

You will collaborate with ICT and other Technical Directors to ensure seamless delivery of solutions; you will educate stakeholders and maintain strong vendor relationships to drive ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

  • Complete University degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of technical architecture and delivery experience.
  • Minimum 5 years IT or Operations management experience in the Financial Industry.
  • Experience in Financial Services/Mutual Fund/Asset Management industry with relevant technology stacks.
  • Proven ability to translate business objectives into technology strategies and solutions.
  • Proven track record of enhancing, innovating and delivering technology solutions.

Job Description

You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement. The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026, when the work location will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway. Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.

As the Technical Director for the Client Experience business, you will manage all aspects of technical delivery and relationship management, acting as the primary technology lead for the portfolio and the Information Services (IS) technical subject matter expert and owner, and single point of contact between IS and business leadership. You will align technology strategy and delivery with business objectives, provide trusted technical guidance, and foster strong partnerships across business and technology teams. You will also collaborate with other Technical Directors and technology leaders to ensure seamless delivery of technology solutions that extend beyond your direct span of control.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Excellent understanding of the industry and maintaining strong relationships with industry partners and technology vendors, advocating for on‑going improvement.
  • Participating in IS division strategic planning and implementation of new technologies and modern solutions, working closely with Information Systems Directors & Managers and Business Partners.
  • Collaborating with ICT departments (Information Security, Architecture, Infrastructure, Project Governance, Business Analysts, Quality Engineering, etc.) to define and deliver optimal solutions.
  • Educating internal stakeholders on evolving technologies, measured by presentations and approved implementations.
  • Ensuring availability of applications, incident ticket resolution, development quality controls, and meeting KPIs defined in the Director’s scorecard.
  • Working with the Vice President of Artificial Intelligence to proactively identify, shape and enable responsible AI capabilities, ensuring alignment with standards and regulations.
  • Providing consultative leadership by developing understanding of divisions within the portfolio and enabling effective collaboration across IS teams.

What we’re looking for:

  • Completed University Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 7+ years of technical architecture and delivery experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of IT or Operations management experience in the Financial Industry.
  • Experience in Financial Services/Mutual Fund/Asset Management Industry with relevant technology stacks.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting and partnering with business leaders across complex financial services portfolios, translating business objectives into technology strategies and solutions.
  • Proven track record of enhancing, innovating and delivering technology solutions.

  • Strong management, interpersonal and diplomatic skills to communicate with senior management.
  • Excellent financial industry knowledge, especially for Transfer Agency services.
  • Proven knowledge of development methodology and practical experience in the development life cycle.
