Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a Senior Hydropower Electromechanical Engineer to serve as Technical Director and SME on turbine-generator systems for large hydropower projects. You will shape feasibility, concept design, and lifecycle decisions, while leading technical teams and guiding project governance.

The role emphasizes advisory leadership, mentorship of engineers, and collaboration with owners, utilities, and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electromechanical Engineering.
• P.Eng. designation in Canada or eligible for registration.
• Typically 15+ years of progressive hydropower turbine-generator experience.
• Experience with feasibility, detailed design review, manufacturing oversight, commissioning and testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and SME input across hydro turbine and generator systems for multiple projects.
• Support OEM prequalification, evaluations, and tender assessments with independent technical judgment on compliance.
• Oversee manufacturing, testing, commissioning support, and performance verification on-site and in factory environments.
• Mentor junior and intermediate engineers and contribute to knowledge transfer and capability growth.
• Support business development and strategic advisory engagements in the hydropower space.
