Swimming New Brunswick (SNB) invites applications for the position of Technical Director.

SNB is a non‑profit Provincial Sport Organization that promotes, guides and regulates competitive swimmers and their programs. We are the governing body for 15 competitive age group swimming clubs, 3 masters clubs and 2 university swimming clubs in New Brunswick.

Our mission: Through leadership, support and programs we build competitive swimmers, strong clubs and healthy communities that result in the growth and success of competitive swimming in New Brunswick.

This is a full‑time one‑year contract with possibility of renewal for an individual who is passionate about the sport of competitive swimming and is a proven leader. As Technical Director you are an energetic, enthusiastic, creative individual who possesses strong leadership skills combined with strong communication (written and verbal), organising, planning and administrative experience. Proficiency in both official languages (English/French) is an asset.

Overview

Reporting to the SNB Staff (Executive Director) and working closely with the SNB Board of Directors, the Technical Director will be working in a high‑paced environment, where they will be expected to engage with members of SNB, partners and stakeholders (i.e., Canadian Sport Institute Atlantic, Sport NB, etc.). The Technical Director is expected to develop and implement strategies for the delivery of technical services that support the SNB membership, while looking to accomplish the goals of the strategic plan, and grants. The Technical Director will work in a team environment to ensure operations of SNB are aligned with key stakeholders and partners.

Responsibilities
  • Provincial competition strategy including development, review, evaluation and attendance
  • Provincial competition technical structure
  • Development and application of SNB athlete ID, tracking and reporting programs, including selection criteria
  • Technical leadership on SNB committees and sub‑committees
  • Grant application development and implementation
  • Provide written reports as required
  • Club development through visitations at meets
  • Providing in‑person training and/or camp opportunities to selected club swimmers
  • Identification and evaluation of targeted club and provincial ID swimmers
  • Review and assessment of SNB performance rankings and results
  • Coaching professional development and mentorship lead
  • Reconciliation and accountability of project finances and personal expenses
  • The position will require evening and weekend work

Other duties may be requested from time to time by the BOD and other SNB Staff.

Qualifications
  • NCCP Coach Level 2 or above
  • Technical background in the sport of competitive swimming
  • A diploma or degree in a relevant field such as sport management, sport science or education would be considered an asset
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in both official languages (English/French); please indicate competency level in application or cover letter
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence and be willing to provide a clean criminal record check
Assets
  • Knowledge of the New Brunswick and Canadian Sport Systems, AAD sport strategies and coaching pathways
  • Experience working with not‑for‑profit and/or with a volunteer board
