What You’ll Do

This is a full‑time position that supports blasting operations in Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will perform all aspects of surveying required to assist drilling contractors who provide accurate drilling for blastholes in quarry and construction operations.

This position involves, but is not limited to the following tasks:

  • Perform blast site hazard assessments to ensure the blast site is a safe work environment for all involved.
  • Designing the blast pattern, which includes the following:
    • Drone flights/photos of the work area (Bench).
    • Creation of 3D models used to optimize the position of boreholes.
    • GPS locating and marking of all points on the bench.
    • Provide plans for drills to follow with depths/angles to be drilled.
    • Bore tracking of drilled holes to verify accuracy at all depths.
  • Communicate with drillers to ensure accurate data collection of hole conditions is carried out for each drill hole. (Drill Log)
  • Ensure that all equipment to be used is in good operating condition, including vehicles, survey equipment and safety gear required to complete the task.
  • Ensuring that company policies, safe work practices, hazard analysis, and standard operating procedures are up‑to‑date and followed.
What We’re Looking For
  • Minimum educational requirements: Survey technical program, related technical training or extensive experience in the related fields.
  • Good computer skills and an ability to communicate effectively in the terminology related to the field in the form of verbal and written reports.
  • Basic AutoCAD skills considered an Asset
  • A positive professional and courteous attitude is an asset when dealing with customers daily.
  • Good physical condition is required with the ability to lift 25 kg.
  • Class 5 Drivers License minimum.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is a requirement.
