Job summary

Magical is seeking a highly skilled Tech Lead for its Forward Deployed Engineering team in Toronto. This senior individual-contributor role combines hands-on work with technical leadership across multiple customer deployments and platform workstreams.

You will design agentic workflows, refine prompts, build integrations, debug failures, and ship production-ready solutions while mentoring junior engineers and guiding architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in software engineering or forward deployed engineering roles.
• Experience leading complex customer deployments.
• Ability to debug across customer environments, integrations, and platform behavior.

Responsibilities

• Take the lead on the most complex, high-risk customer deployments.
• Get hands-on designing agentic workflows, writing prompts, building integrations, debugging failures, and shipping production solutions.
• Diagnose difficult issues across customer environments, data, and platform behavior.
• Provide technical leadership across multiple customers and teams.
• Review designs, testing strategies, and production-readiness for complex workflows.
• Coach engineers and help juniors develop problem-solving and systems-thinking skills.
• Model technical ownership, urgency, and customer focus in delivery.
• Identify risks and reliability issues before they affect customers.
• Collaborate with Product and Engineering to distinguish deployment issues from platform gaps.
• Translate recurring challenges into reusable platform capabilities and standards.
• Improve testing, observability, debugging, incident response, and release practices.
