The Team Manager leads and develops production and maintenance teams to reliably meet SQDCPME targets (safety, quality, delivery, cost, people, morale, environment). This hands‑on role enforces Manufacturing Operating System standards, drives daily shop‑floor performance, coordinates with Quality and Maintenance, and coaches Process Coaches and operators to resolve abnormalities and sustain improvements. The Team Manager ensures safe, efficient production while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. Additionally, the role provides direct oversight of machining and tooling activities — including setup, tool changes, work holding, and finishing processes — and partners with the Maintenance team to plan and validate preventive maintenance (PMs), manage downtime and shutdown work plans, troubleshoot equipment issues, and maintain critical spares.

The Team Manager champions machine reliability and tooling integrity, supports root‑cause repairs and improvement plans, and ensures production and maintenance activities are aligned to maximize JPH, RTY, and overall equipment availability.

Responsibilities
  • Operational Performance Management: Drive daily targets across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, and Environment (SQDCPME) while managing production flow, resource allocation, and shift handovers.
  • Process Standardization and Continuous Improvement: Implement Manufacturing Operating System (MOS) standards and lead initiatives such as 5S, Kaizen, and the Ford Production System (FPS) to enhance visual controls and operational efficiency.
  • Machining Optimization and Quality Control: Oversee machining operations—including setup, tooling changes, and finishing processes—to reduce cycle times, improve tool life, and validate Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) results.
  • Maintenance and Asset Reliability: Coordinate routine maintenance, shutdown work plans, and tooling lifecycle management while partnering with maintenance teams on root-cause repairs and critical spare parts inventory.
  • Leadership and Talent Development: Coach and mentor Process Coaches and Operators, ensuring the timely closure of abnormalities and Permanent Corrective Actions (PCAs) while facilitating the transfer of best practices across different sites.
  • Data Management and Capital Planning: Maintain production reporting and Time & Data Management systems, and develop business cases for capital or tooling upgrades by presenting Return on Investment (ROI) to leadership.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline. Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.
  • Experience:
    • 5+ years manufacturing experience.
    • 2–5 years leading Lean implementation projects on the plant floor.
    • Proven supervisory/leadership experience in a high‑volume manufacturing environment.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing or a related discipline.
  • Experience:
    • Certified Lean / Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) or equivalent.
    • Proven track record delivering measurable JPH/RTY improvements and cost avoidance.
    • Demonstrated MP&L experience (materials planning, Kanban, VMI, MRP scheduling).
    • Proficient project management, change leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • Experience in unionized environments and supplier development.
    • Excellent coaching and servant‑leadership style.
    • Ability to work under pressure, manage crises, multi‑task, and present to plant management.
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) and manufacturing systems.
