About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Health Services Manager of Anesthesia Services, the Anesthesia Technician Team Lead is an integral member of the health care team, responsible for the effective utilization of human resources, equipment and supplies for the Department of Anesthesia. The Team Lead provides skilled technical assistance perioperatively and maintains adequate levels of inventory requirements while maintaining a safe and aseptic environment through the adherence of safety regulations and standards. He/she is knowledgeable about patient safety and the aspects of its practice in the operating room, while providing clinical leadership to the Anesthesia Department. The Anesthesia Technician Team Lead will provide services within DGH site and outside the operating room environment as required.

Additionally, the Anesthesia Technician provides technical assistance to the Anesthesiologists with the application of supplies and monitoring equipment to the patient for all anesthesia procedures, including all hemodynamic monitoring lines, critical care monitors and life support equipment. Further, the Technician provides a second pair of hands during sterile procedures, adjusting controls and passing supplies into the sterile field, infusing fluids under direct supervision, while maintaining a watchful eye on the anesthesia delivery equipment. This individual is trained to expect the unexpected and react appropriately.

The Team Lead maintains skills as an Anesthesia Technician and can immediately respond to changes to workload as the work day evolves. The Team Leader also acts as a liaison with other team members and departments to provide safe and effective coverage, ensuring departmental guidelines for safe practice are adhered to.

About You

  • Successful completion of a certificate/diploma program in Anesthesia Technology
  • A minimum of three years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician
  • Previous experience in an anesthesia team lead/supervisor position preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and conflict management skills
  • BCLS certification
  • Training in education/preceptorship, leadership preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively with medical professionals is essential
  • Reliable, self-starter capable of independent action
  • Well-developed decision making, analytical, interpretation, negotiation, and problem solving skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

  • 1 Year Full-time Long Assignment; 75 Hours Bi-weekly
Compensation and Benefits

$32.61 - $38.81 Hourly
